-Reinforced Metal Casing [Protects the device from combat exposure]
-Reinforced Metal Protective Cover [Protects the apparatus from external threats such as water and dust]
-Open Button [Opens the protective cover and powers up the unit]
-LCD Display [Displays information in the event the sound does not work]

-External Speaker [Sounds an alarm when the shock is ready and to clear the area of the patient]
-2x adhesive pads attached via wire [attach to the upper right front of the chest and the mid left side of the chest]
-Sheers [to cut through clothing]
-2x Extra pads [In case one is broken or hair needs to be removed from the chest]
Usage of the AED
Step 1
Begin by performing CPR and contact another unit to assist you. Contact NOVA personell immediately if available.
Step 2
If you are the CPR unit, continue compressions. If you are the second responding unit, deploy your AED by removing it from its holder and placing it beside the patient, opposite side from the unit performing CPR.
Step 3
If you are the CPR unit, stop compressions and assist the second unit with removing the patients abdominal clothing (including underwear)
Step 4
Check the quality of the attached pads. Remove chest hair with the spare or defective pads if it is too thick for the adhesive pads to stick to the underlying skin.
Step 5
Apply each pad to their corresponding part of the body (check the diagram on the pads)
Step 6
If the pads are in the right location, the AED will notify the unit who was issued it to stand back while it detects if the patient needs a shock or not. If the pads are in the wrong location or dont have enough contact, the AED will also tell the unit what is wrong.
Step 7
The AED will either say "Continue Care" or "Standby For Shock" If it is the first, continue to perform CPR till the AED notifies you to stand backl. If it is the latter, move away from the patient and be ready to push the red shock button.
Step 8/i]
The shock alarm will ring through the units headset and out the device as well. Push the shock button and standby for the next step.
Step 9
If the shock was successful, the AED will say "Begin patient recovery". If the shock was unsuccessful, the AED will say "Continue Care" in which case, continue compressions and breaths and wait for the AED to say "Standby for shock."
Step 10
If the AED records 30 minutes of unsuccessful shocks, it will notify you the patient is beyond the recovery time in which case, assume the patient is dead.
