Michael Brady was a fresh mind right out of college, hoping to reach his goals of becoming a millionaire. His goal wasn't established for the money, nor for the glamorous lifestyle, but simply because he didn't feel like working for the rest of his life. He had mastered in computer programming as well as socioeconomics, and decided to put his talents into good use. He knew that social networking was a huge industry, and that sooner or later the other conglomerates were bound to lose the favor of the public. He decided to begin programming and working on a new social networking website, not too far from the others with their filters and obnoxious chain post features. He knew that actually designing the site and such was the easy part, but making sure to start it up at the right time with the right support base was the much more difficult part of the task. He decided to market his idea to other well known corporations and possible investors, hoping to be given enough money to help kick start his project. He recieved little to no help from anyone, except for an over one hundred thousand dollar investment by a man unnamed. He took the money and refused to look back, using it to pay for the proper domain name, servers, and future advertisements that would soar his social networking site to the top.
It was a Sunday morning when Michael checked his phone, a text message sent by an unknown number on the front of his screen. It was from an out of state number, an area code which he had never seen before in his life. The text told him that a man at around his age heard about his aspiring idea to dominate the social media market and that he too wished to accompany Michael on his journey to the top. Without knowing the man, his name, or number, Michael accepted him and invited him to visit him in his home state. One week later, the mysterious man, who revealed that his name was Zachary, visited Michael at his front door step. He was a tall fellow, but also very stocky and filled out. He brought with him a degree in programming as well, and an extremely cheerful mood as well as experience which was needed to help kick-start and set up the site before it could even launch. Michael and the new man began to work on their project for the next few months.
Of course there were bumps and spikes in the road of their endeavour, but it did not stop them from grinding their way through the tireless hours of programming and coding for such a site. It was just the two of them, with a mysterious investor kicking them off. There were fights and there were ecstatic times of happiness between the two now growing friends. They seemed to have a bond that was unbreakable, one that only two true friends could share. The more time they collaborated and spent together, the quicker that their lives seemed to flash before their eyes and their site fully grow into fruition. Finally, after almost three-quarters of a year of designing and programming, the site was finally complete. The two friends decided that it was now time to begin their marketing campaign, but when to launch it was another story.
It was a Thursday morning when the stocks of two rival social media company's plummeted. It wasn't a simple down-turn or anything of the such, their stocks basically hit rock bottom, there was nothing left. The two friends decided that it was the perfect time to launch their marketing campaign to take America by storm. Suddenly at three large College campuses, people woke up to see that a new social network had appeared on the internet, it being advertised by the two's recently sponsored group, Google. After close to a week over a quarter of America was posting all their intricate personal details online to their site. The two made tens of millions of dollars within two months of the site's official launch. Michael had finally achieved his goal, to become rich enough to never have to work again in his life. Although his best friend, Zachary had different ambitions than our now hopefully retiring entrepreneur. Zachary wanted to make more money, much more money. He decided to try and talk Michael out of his retirement plan, and tried to convince him into making more sites, one taking the previous's place after the other, all based on the social media premise. Michael didn't like the idea, and in a rage, Zachary decided to take it to the Judicial system to take over the entirety of our entrepreneur's company and the entirety of his assets claiming the premise of fraud.
The two became embroiled in a hard fought court case which has now been raging for over two years now. When it seemed as if all hope was lost, and that our hero would lose it all, the portal storms began to ravage earth. Instead of fleeing for safety or his life, he found this to be the perfect opportunity to go around the judicial system and simply keep his assets by force. Since the American judicial system has yet to freeze Michael's control of his company, which included the social networking site, he began to flood the entire internet with messages of surrender and offering to the Combine. After three days of constant messaging, advertisements, and spam he was finally contacted. Awaking from his sleep, Michael found himself in a one on one conversation with one of the Union's newly transported Advisors After a brief conversation, Michael agreed to surrender every little piece of information that his site had gathered from the now billions of people which used it, all in exchange for the opportunity to never have to work again in his life. That was all it took, except for the brutal death of his so called friend which had betrayed him.
After the Combine raped and pillaged his site for the information it had on its users, such as their businesses, housing complexes, strongholds, etc, he was taken into stasis and was told he would be released when necessary. Numerous years later, our now jobless and homeless entrepreneur awakes in the Citadel of City Seventeen.
