"I can, I will, I promise to stop the financial crisis of the United States before any other state does. And when we do, we'll push the rest up to the top!" Dr. White said this at the election of Governor for the small, but economically relevant state of Massachusetts, but that's not where the story starts, is it?
Helen White was a young woman in High School, although pretty, her schoolwork was something enforced by her parents strictly. Falling below A's in all classes resulted in punishment. This motivated her to push as hard as she can, and eventually got enough scholarship funding to go for a doctorate in whatever she dreamed of. First, she thought of becoming a lawyer, like her father. Of course, her mother didn't support it. Her mother suggested she go to become a Professor, but Helen herself hated the idea of teaching snobby college kids; Helen decided she wanted to help animals. Her dog Mel was Helen's closest friend. They eat together, sleep together, did everything. Any time Helen wasn't studying or online passing the time, she'd be with her dog. Helen's empathy for sick and injured animals came in one day when Mel was hit by a car. Sadly, Mel lost his leg, but he quickly returned to the happy Mel that Helen loved dearly.
First days of College, they are all rounding up people for the clubs that you can join. Helen decided, because she's so good at arguing like her father insisted when he wanted her to become a lawyer, she would join the Debate club while studying Veterinary Science and Medicine. Of course, this was stressful. In debate club, she met a guy named David. He was a Scottish immigrant, David O'Mally, who was studying to become a robotic engineer. David and Helen became close friends, sharing personalities and strict parents; they also had the same docile attitude to those parents. Eventually, David moved from his apartment that was five minutes from the School to Helen's small, two person dormitory. Luckily, David payed his rent by making a kick-ass breakfast with a side of bacon and toast. David started to replace Helen's void of happiness caused by not being able to see her best friend Mel.
After about a year and a half of friend-zone status between David and Helen, David asks her out to dinner one night. There he takes his leap of faith, putting a small diamond ring on the table. Skipping boyfriend and girlfriend, David cautiously says, "Y-you make me the h-happiest man.. in the world." Helen squee's in excitement, proclaiming Yes over and over again, making David and Helen fiancé to eachother. Of course, this young couple of scholars couldn't possibly think of getting married while in college, that's financial suicide. The two one person beds slide together across the room, and in the safety and warmth of that Summer night, they seal their fate to be wed. The next morning, Helen calls her parents and David calls his; "Meet me at the Weather-vane for some lobster, it's on me."
When David's parents heard the news and so did Helen's they all looked at each other at the same table, eying them down. These strict parents saw the rugged personality in each other, then they all broke into a smile, and soon after a joyful laughter. Their dinner arrives on time, but that sneaky waitress heard all about them talking about weddings and such. With lobster, came a slice of cheesecake to all of them. The manager must have been a good person, he even gave it to them for free. Thereafter, they had all added one another to their phone's contact's list they walked out with full stomachs, destined to rendezvous again in the future.
Many years later, they walk across the stage wearing the robe and mortar board cap and cautiously approaching the principal. First, Helen walked up with her teary father and happy mother. By the time the Doctorate was in her hands, her father was in tears. Her mother was motivating him to stop sobbing on the stage in front of 1000s of people, as heard through the microphone. Helen just stood there, and walked off while her mother pushed her father along. Next came David. Sadly, only his mother was there, a sad tale for a young Scot. 'Mum' as he called her in his short thank you speech; She had red hair and looked like the average Scot. Holding Doctorate in hand, they gather off the stage, and arrange dinner at, you guessed it, the Weathervane.
As they finished eating, it seemed as though an animal hospital was already interested in her, as stated by the letter her mother handed to her after the dinner. Helen cautiously looks it over, David reads along with her. An animal hospital in Massachusetts, a state below their home state of New Hampshire. ( Sorry for not stating that earlier. ) Helen decided to hold off the offer until David could find Engineering work in Massachusetts too. Luckily, in a giant city such as Boston or Lowell, specifically Boston, David found easy engineering work for a small robotics research center. With financial help from their parents, they buy a small, two bedroom one bathroom house in the far outskirts of Massachusetts.
-ALTERNATE HISTORY ALERT-
After Mitt Romney ceased to be the Governor of Massachusetts in January of 2007, Helen decided to run for Governor, running side by side with her Lieutenant Governor being her husband David O'Mally. Receiving plenty of Criticism for her Environmental and Democratic ideas, it was simply not enough to out-vote her, with only 40% of Massachusetts being Republican and 60% being Democratic. So in the 2008 election for Massachusetts Governor, she passed the expectations and sullied her opponent Deval Patrick, or 'Devil' Patrick as she called him. Many inspirational speeches come out of her mouth while in office. She received public fame for helping at animal hospitals whenever she could, but some thought she was a poser. Being a Vet as a Governor instead of a Lawyer is hard, so she hired many advisers to keep her in check.
Winning the 2012 election, too, she stays in office resuming her past promises. Except in 2015, an international crisis happens. Helen and David happen to see it first, these strange creatures raining hell onto the city of Boston. As the ballsy Scot that David was, he ripped the underwear from his own thighs and ripped a United Nations flag right off the pole, putting the over-sized pair of underwear onto it. While hell rules the outside, he ties a rope to him, and them ties it to Helen's desk, who had fainted from terror three hours ago and still hasn't woken up. While David climbs into the roof of the building, shuffling along holding this large white flag, he finds the service ladder and climbs into the bell tower on top. There he places the white flag there, and begins chiming the large, bronze bell as loud as he possibly could. Throughout the city, the hell-fire stops, and soon silence overcomes the city with the slight rumble of fire. Diiiiiiinggggggg, Donnnnnnnnnnnggggggg, Diiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnngggggg, Donnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg echoes throughout the City. The battle then stops, and Adviser floating down to the Scot. David begins to float, and the Adviser holds him in front of itself where he can see him. "You... lead.. this.. city?" asks the Adviser through telepathy. David screeches in terror, "No No no no no I don't! I-i-i-I'm the.. l-ll-l-lieutenant gove-ernor!"
They float down to the next window that David addresses to be Helen's office. David is thrown through the window, glasses shattering all over the floor as he skids across the blue carpet. There Helen awakes from her terror just to faint again when she saw the Adviser. The bell tower still chimed loudly above the city, blanketing the sounds of suffering and destruction in Boston. "Whhyyy... do you.. surrender.. to the.. Union?" the adviser exclaims telepathically. Helen's consciousness is brought back with she floats up and faces the Adviser, her eyes opening. She looks eye to eye with the giant grub. "You... surrender.. yourselves.. to the Union.. rewards.. are in.. effect.. for.. such little inferiority..."
Helen is allowed to fall back asleep, floated along with David by the Adviser to the closest Citadel that flies down into the planet's crust. There Helen is put in New York Citadel, City 01. She's kept inside of stasis with constant brainwashing going on until the railroad's finish. When she awakes, six EOW greet her. She's dragged with half consciousness to another pod, put inside and the put on the train heading for Kiev, Ukraine, otherwise known as City 17. When she awakes, she knew exactly what to do, how to do it, and why she should do it, all of this being for the benefactors, by the benefactors, die for the benefactors.
"Welcome to City 17. You've been relocated from parts unknown to join me and my team of administration here. The rations schedule will be placed outside the Train station soon."
